Whether he turns out to be a star or a bust, you can be sure that getting the name Douglas-Roberts on the back of his jersey will be a challenge. But don't worry, Marc Hohorst, the Tiger's equipment manager and a really great guy, will find a way to get it done.

Calipari does it again--5th best point guard commits to Tigers
Chris Douglas-Roberts verbally committed to the U of M Tuesday night--without ever stepping foot on campus! I ran into Coach Cal at Houston's during lunch today. He was thrilled, if not a little surprised, that Douglas-Roberts' commitment came before his campus visit.

No longer an easy 5 iron
It saddens me to inform the Memphis golf community that Nevada Bob's closed it's doors recently. I'll really going to miss stopping by the store to look around and catch up with Tom, Frank and the rest of the staff. Who knows what will become an easy 5-iron from the Dan West store on Poplar? Whatever it is, hopefully they'll become a sponsor.
In the meantime, Bill and Bob at Oak Hall graciously invited me to fill the void by spending more time at Oak Hall in the Regalia shopping center, next to the Owen Brennans restaurant.

Olive Branch Dodge's Store-great tater wedges
Next time you're in Olive Branch, do yourself a favor. Stop by a Dodge's Store and pick up a bag of potato wedges. I usually get 8 or 10 and eat them right there in the parking lot. That's right–the parking lot. Sometimes I eat them with ketchup. But they're best plain with just a little salt and pepper. Doesn't really matter what you put on them though. They are some kind of good.
When you there, tell them George sent you. They won't give you a discount, but I appreciate the publicity.

Ankiel looks good-postseason a possibility
I'm told by folks in St. Louis that Rick Ankiel, who has pitched really good this month, has an outside shot of making the Cardinals postseason roster as a reliever. Yeah, a reliever. But Tony LaRussa might be a little reluctant to throw Ankiel back into the playoffs, seeing as how his troubles began when he threw nine wild pitches in the 2000 playoffs. Whether or not he's on the playoff roster, one thing is certain: the Cardinals are never, ever going to loose another game.
